Groenland, THE COUrage to grow green!

Groenland is a fertile breeding ground for innovative and ecologically responsible business. Groenland has its origins in the floricultural sector.

With the focus on people and the environment, 2018 was an eventful year in which we further strengthened our base for the future. First of all, the beginning of the construction of our second office building and the relocation of our production unit in Kudelstaart to Aalsmeer whereby the integration of Bloominess was given further form. A lot of attention was paid to sustainability in the construction of our new accommodation.

Our philosophy is that the companies’ success is due to the independence of each of the companies. This independence is characterised by the freedom that each of the companies has to serve the market and its customers in suitable manner. With their own identity, a product range that is geared to the customer and their own strategy, each company is supported by Groenland with central staff departments. Central staff departments such as HR, ICT and Finance have been set up and provide a stable back office which serves as a base for the further development of the companies.

In 2018, we further improved our “care” of our employees with the launch of our vitality programme “Groenland Vitaal” with which we aim to become an even better employer. “Groenland Vitaal” is a process in which we consciously strive to accommodate our employees’ need to be healthier and more energetic with the creation of a good work-life balance. As part of this, a collaboration was started with KaizenGym for lifestyle and personal coaching.

Based on our slogan “The courage to grow green” we have set ourselves the target for 2019 to reduce the use of plastics by 50%. By making use of smarter, thinner and much more  environmentally friendly materials a lot of waste can be avoided. We will thus be able to reduce our company’s carbon footprint  (CO2 emissions) again considerably. In addition to smart and sustainable solutions for energy and waste separation, making less use of plasstics in our green sector is a big challenge. As Greenland, we will continue to make an effort to do so and we will further develop the necessary concepts in 2019.

We will continue to pursue our green growth mission  with a high priority for the social aspects as well with a lot of passion and energy. We are confidently looking ahead to a flourishing 2019.
