Groenland acquires Spira Blommor

Groenland acquires a Swedish company, Spira Blommor AB, as per 1 October.


Spira Blommor, a Ratos group company and a subsidiary of Plantagen, is one of the leading providers of flower services. It provides them to large retail chains within grocery stores, private shops and wholesalers across Sweden. A wide range of flowers that follows the seasons, e.g. cut flowers, mono bunches, potted plants, outdoor plants and ceramic pots.

As part of the Ratos group, Spira Blommor has undergone a major transformation. The past years new management, has laid the basis for long term success with new IT systems and a new brand name, which has laid the basis for long-term success. At this moment it became more evident that understanding the business and the demands of Spira Blommor’s customers is crucial. The horticulture industry has its specific requirements.

By combining Groenland’s knowledge, expertise and understanding of the flower industry with the unique market position of Spira Blommor, more opportunities lie ahead. ‘With a step forward into the supply chain, to come closer to the final customers, added value will be created in this rapidly growing market’, as John Celie, founder of Groenland, explained.

Spira Blommor has approximately 110 FTEs and an annual sales level of approximately SEK 350 million. With nearly 900 selling points in Sweden, a further expansion of the Groenland Group in the Nordics is envisaged.
